Nice job, but what is the story behind the white walled tires?

Hi Vincent,

The Germans thought that white-walls on the tires would dissipate the desert heat more efficiently, thereby preventing blow-outs in the extreme desert temperatures.

Thank you for the information. You learn something every day. I have been modeling for almost sixty years and never knew that.

Hello Mathias,
Great job on your BF109.
I like the white walled tires! The desert scheme was always one of my favourites.
Vincent.
