Good news that there are more R.A. models coming out and in 1/72nd! And yes let's hope for a Ca 133 or even a Ca. 309 Ghibli.
Cheers, Dave. :D

Fly?

I have never heard of this company. Can anyone comment on their quality, price and distributors? At least now I can now stop looking for the Broplan vacuform kit.

Post by kippenhan » Thu Aug 25, 2011 5:40 pm

Great Models has the new kit on pre-sale.
Not cheap, but it will be a great addition.

I bough my kit from Fly. Google Fly models there sight will come up. The cost was 64.00 with postage. The only catch is I have not received it yet. I do have a conformation so I am not worried. But I would like to get it soon.

The gentleman who runs the show told me that if he would receive enough information about the fiat G 12. he would consider producing one.

Fly model sight is www.fly814.cz

KPL in the US says they have mine

Post by Shane » Thu Aug 25, 2011 8:35 pm

I ordered mine through KPL here in the US. I received a notice that he had them and I sent a check. His pre-release price was below Great Models and was the first to say he had them. I will wait for his answer....

Ca 101

Post by Aeroal » Sat Aug 27, 2011 7:14 am

Guys,

It just goes to show that if you wait long enough, your wishes may come true! This exotic machine (injection moulded), has been on my wants list for as long as I can remember. Now if Fly can do a 101, surely they can manage a 133, which I would think would be a much better seller than a G12, as it was a squadron hack on just about every campaign the RA fought in?

As for price, I looked up the figure quoted in Czech Crowns and it only equated to about £22.50 Sterling, which I thought was good value when compared with say, the likes of Valom, - approx. £38.50 for its similarly sized Fokker FVII/3m. I also looked at Hannants website to see if it was available, but strangely, they appear to have deleted Fly from their lists. Even taking an importer's margin into account, the price quoted in North America seems quite steep.

Regards,

Aeroal.

Source for C 101 photos

Post by kippenhan » Sat Aug 27, 2011 1:16 pm

Does anyone know of a source, photos primarily, for the Caproni 101? There is a very nice shot of one in Thompson's book, but other than that, I can't seem to find much.

Also, Aeroal, Hannats does list FLY as well as the kit and in fact, has two different stock numbers listed. I agree with you, now we need a 133, lots of good marking options with that one.

Ca 101.

Post by Aeroal » Sat Aug 27, 2011 2:30 pm

Mike,

Google Ca 101. Quite a few photos turn up, a lot of repeats, unfortunately, but quite a few useful shots are available.

One book I would suggest you have a look at, if you can find it, is 'Ali Italiane in Africa Orientale 1935 - 1940.' by Carlo Lucchini with Giorgio Apostolo, Storia Militaire, 1997. The Ca 101 was used in the earlier part of this campaign and this is a superb picture book with many good clear shots of these machines in action. There are also many more pictures of Ca 111's, Ca 133's and Ro 37's. Delightful!

Perhaps this is one of the neglected subjects which could persuade Giorgio Apostolo to give us a new Ali D'Italia or at least a Mini Ali D'Italia?

Regards,

Aeroal.
