Macchi M.C. 202 11-378

Post by davenport49 » Sun Sep 17, 2023 6:29 am

The August 2023 issue of Scale Aircraft Modelling has an article in the middle of the magazine on the "202", including 5 pages of profiles. The second page has 5 images of aircraft stationed on Sicily in 1941-42. I'd consider building another 1/48th for my "Battle of Malta" display of the one that force landed on Gozo. I could probably source most of the decals, except for the i.d. numbers 11-378 and m.m.7842. Any suggestions on where I might find them?

Richard, a couple of ways to do this:
1) Skymodels 48-015 has the decals you need for 11-378 together with generic MMs (27) in white, black and yellow. Its an older sheet but its still good. The profile in the instructions is 1-378 but the decals for 11-378 are there (48, 49). Everything you need is in 48-015. Check ebay.

2) Aeromaster 48-189 has 1-378, if you have this sheet I have a partial extra I can mail you to finish the 11. The next issue is, there aren't generic MMs in this sheet like the Skymodels sheet. Also if you look at STRM 48007 you'll note that the scripts and stencils are all in blue (correct), not yellow, white or black - although we need to take into consideration this kind of detail when making a decal sheet, the most important thing is building what you want as closely as you can get it to what it might have looked like. I would use the yellow stenciling in place of the blue if you manage to get the Skymodels sheet.
