How are you planning to weather the plane? I think your kit has raised panel lines, its very hard to make any kind of weathering technique work on raised panel lines.

Way too late alas, assembled major components weeks ago. May experiment on weathering Tailplanes first, will get to them later this A.M.

The purpose of raised panel lines was to highlight them by shadow, they were eventually replaced by recessed panel lines which were easier to mold btw. I'm sure Richard has more to add here. I handled raised panels in my SMER C.200 build by re-scribing the raised panel lines without removing them. I then pre-shaded the fuselage lines (and other areas) and then post-shaded them using solid pastels and an acrylic wash using a fine edge paint brush:

- > Profile photos of near-complete Fuselage posted below.

- > Sprayed on out-of-bottle Humbrol 125 U.S. Dark Gray Satin in vertical streaks & mottles along bulkhead station et. al. locations simulating paint discoloration from weathering.

- > No semi-gloss clear coat spray on necessary, Humbrol satin paint brightness more than sufficient.

Raised lines well as other mold detail carved directly on steel molds - the cheapest mold manufacturing method - was characteristic of injected plastic kits from the 1936-vintage FROG Penguins on. The Japanese in the late 1960s were amongst the first to manufacture "relief" molds allowing for recessed panel lines well as other recessed details though were more expensive to produce; computerized mold manufacture has reduced costs, 3-D Printing promising yet more reduction.
