Re 2005 width of fuselage band

Post by dennismcc » Sun Oct 15, 2023 12:57 pm

It's been a while but I'm back working on my PCM Re 2005, I airbrushed the undersides but forgot about the fuselage white band, normally I would airbrush the white and mask it off before commencing the main colour scheme,
So airbrushed the band on the fuselage and the rudder white, I'm going to mask the rudder cross.
But I could not find out what was the width of the fuselage band, I could guess it from the various photos and drawings but it would be nice to get it right, any ideas.
This is where I am at the moment with the model.

The width of the white fuselage band was 600mm or 18.5mm (1.85 cm) in 1/32 and 12.5mm (1.25cm) in 1/48.

I thought it right that I should show you what I did with the advice that you guys have given me, so here is my completed Pacific Coast Models 1/32 scale Re. 2005 Sagitterio.
Built OOB apart from Montex masks for the national markings, paints are Xtracolor.

That's very kind of you, the build was a bit of a challenge but the finished model was well worth it, I have a few PCM kits in the stash and decided that I should build them so I have now built four in a row.
These were a fabric wing Mk.I Hawker Hurricane, a Hawker Tempest, and a Spitfie IX.
The other PCM kit that I built was this one:

It was built a long time ago (2010), and the once stretchy aerial wire now needs replacing.

Also gorgeous! My experience with my 1 PCM model was a mixed bag - great having the added detail, but getting everything to fit together was a bit of a challenge.

My "Herringbone" FIAT G.55...

Post by RetiredInKalifornia » Sat Jan 20, 2024 10:06 am

...Old & terrible FROG 1/72 kit built c.2012, inaccurate unit A/C number to boot ;>(

This c.2012 Aliplast G.55 was schema reprise of FROG kit I'd built c.1984:

eBay when I'd started buying Italian subject model kits in 2006 had several supposed original 1962-issue Aliplast G.55 up for sale, bought several building them during the 2010s whilst living in the folks old Cameron Park, CA house, sold it - the house - on November 19, 2015, third worst day in my life after Dad died September 6th, Mom November 2nd & before brother on August 29, 2016.

Hi Vince sorry for the delay in answering but what form should the article take and what should I include in it, there is a detailed build thread over on LSP, do you want a shortened version ?

No worries, any length article will do. Provide some details or tips you think would help the next person build the same kit, paints used, any difficulties you encountered and what you did to work around them etc. Construction information is all I need.

No problem should I post it in another section of the forum.
