Hi all, here's the new big Italeri kit backdated to a Serie III machine. It is of course Sergente Maggiore Falieri Gelli’s 378-11, which was shot down over Malta 27 April 1942 by George Screwball Beurling, with Gelli taken POW.

There's a chunk of scratchbuilding in the engine, bay, plus a few other modifications to make a Serie III machine like the tailwheel fairing with older-style tailwheel leg, and the un-armoured windscreen. The propeller spinner has been reshaped to make it look more like the actual thing too!

Hope you like her!

Wow, gorgeous! Representing the Battle of Malta is a passion, so I'm very interested in learning more about your aircraft. And, by all means, more photos!

...To bad I'd never built models in this scale. Do note the L-shaped pilot step on fuselage, detail I'd overlooked doing my 1/72nd scale builds :(

Always loved CMPR SCHEMA D - MIMETICA COLOINALE E TIPO AS D-1 Macchie rade Nocciola su fondo Verde, very last model build of mine December 29, 2020 of a 4 Stormo 9 Gruppo 73 Squadriglia C.202 with camo-ed prop spinner photo documented on some Serie III Folgores done as such it amongst half-dozen FROG & SUPERMODEL D-1 builds since 1966.

Now I really like that, beautifully built and painted, the painting must have taken a lot of time and concentration.
I have one of those kits sitting in the "to do" pile, I will be happy if it turns out as nice as yours when I get round to it.

Cheers

Dennis
