ciao to all
I have recently bought 2 diecast model airplane in 1/72 scale by IXO
one is the Macchi mc 205 VELTRO cobelligerante 1943
the other a Macchi mc 202 FOLGORE Russia 1942
I immediately noticed a difference in the basecoat of the two aircrafts
my question is this
Is this difference correct ?
In other words
was any change in the nocciola chiaro 4 when applied on the Macchi Veltro in 1943 on the aircrafts used by the cobelligerante Italian air force ?

thanks very much for your reply

There weren't changes to Nocciola Chiaro 30219 as far as we know, what the C.202 camo is likely trying to model is the Giallo Mimeticos that were applied to some Macchis in early 1941, before Tavola X.

See Table 3 in the Color Guide (CMPR Camouflage Schemes).

Hi Vince
thanks for your reply
I assume that the colour on the folgore is a Giallo Mimetico
while the one on the veltro is a Nocciola Chiaro 4
probably applied at later stage [1943]
would I be correct ?
thanks

Yes the Veltro is finished in NOC4 while the C.202 is likely depicted in Giallo Mimetico 3-4.

thanks Vince
for some reason the darker Folgore seems more closed to the nocciola chiaro 4
