Hello,
Come back again after a long period...
What type of camo do you recommend for Fiat g-50 FA-26 (MM4743) piloted by O. Tuominen during summer 1941 ?
Is it a 3 or 2 tone camo scheme ?
TIA, regards.
Stéph

Hi Stéph,
Fiat G.50 MM.4743 was delievered to the Finns in a 3 tone camo scheme, C1 CMPR Color Chips:

I don't have photos to confirm the color plate and I do seem to recall a discussion around this plane (Finnish G.50s) as to the 2 and 3 tone color schemes, but nothing definitive that I know of.

Despite the fact that it was thought that the G-50s were delivered with only one color upside, they had the regular three tone scheme common to all Italian fighters of the period: Giallo Mimetico 3, Verde Mimetico 2 Marrone Mimetico 2 with Griggio Mimetico undersides..

Hello,
Here is the answer that Kari Stenman sent me:

"Hi Stéphane,

I have seen tens of good quality black/white photos of the Fiat G.50, but even in the best of them I have been able to identify only two colours: verde mimetico spots on bruno mimetico. No trace of the darker brown, which would certainly show on orthochromatic film. Hallinportti Air Museum has a piece of the original rudder fabric from FA-1, and it has also only the two mentioned colours. In my opinion all G.50s delivered to Finland had the 2-colour pattern, the less common one.

Best regards

Kari

I think Kari Stenman meant to say Verde Mimetico on Giallo Mimetico (not Bruno Mimetico) - i.e., the CMPR C2 Camo scheme.
