A few years ago I had the privilege of spending a week touring Malta. I was amazed at the pivotal role the country has had for centuries, epitomized in WWII. I'm working on a project to portray the participants in the Siege of Malta. Here's one of from the Regia Aeronautica. This is the 1/48th Italeri Ju 87 B-2/R2 “Picchatello” (#2769). It represents “red 7” of 239a Squadrigia of the Regia Aeronautica, flown by Cap. G. Cenni, while stationed in Comiso, Sicily, in late 1940. Squadrigia 239a was active in the battle of Malta. The only additions to the kit were QuickBoost exhaust (QB 48 368) and gun barrels (QB 48 376). Camouflage is RLM 65, 70, 71, from Model Master (#2078, #2081) and Vallejo (71.021). References included Junkers Ju87 From 1936 to 1945, Histoire & Collections, Planes and Pilots #4; Junkers Ju 87 B, Kagero, TopDrawings #54; Ju87 Stuka in Action, Squadron/Signal, Aircraft #73; “Picchiatelli over Malta: Italian Stukas, 1940-42”, by Richard J. Caruana (http://www.worldatwar.net/chandelle/v3/ ... stuka.html); and “Italian Stukas over Malta” by Richard J. Caruana (https://www.stormomagazine.com/Articles ... taRJC.html).

Great job Richard! Very well done. If you can write a short article I'd like to include this build in the Gallery!

Stukas & Gustav Bf-109Gs for decades have been perennial likes of mine but decided not to build any in Italian liveries preferring instead to build those in stock in Luftwaffe including the horrid though sentimenally favored 1957-vintage Airfix Of America Ju-87, Lindberg's 1955-vintage 1/48th kit likely the first post-WWII injected-plastic Stuka.
