...Italeri C.202 build easiest of all those this year though flubbed spotting where to drill hole for Pitot tube forward of engine coolant radiator, was too close, quickly puttied it up, smoothed & spray painted over it, drilled new hole & glued in tube. The "Italian Passion" began in 1964 with the FROG C.202 kit ending apropos with the Italeri kit, sadly no models go with me wherever must move in the future, too expensive & impractical doing so, photographing them only record of my having built them.

"I HAVE Returned!"

Post by RetiredInKalifornia » Sun Oct 01, 2023 8:28 pm

Many thanks to Vincent Tassone for resetting my password to resume posting on STORMO forums!

I've not posted since December 30, 2020 during the worst of the COVID-19 Pandemic it taking a severe psychological toll on me though never caught the original virus nor its strains.

The "good news" is am physically alive though still recovering from major sinus surgery on May 19 reaming out chronic wet infections (i.e. infected sinus discharge) restoring normal breathing through the nose, chronic esophageal irritation & GERD (Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease) ongoing since November 1983 because of the infections.

The "bad news" is still have chronic TMJ (Temporomandibular Joint) arthritus ongoing since 1969 (dealing with that better though still far off from any long-term non-drug relief) & tinnitus on the left side.

The other "bad news" perhaps distressing to those here on STORMO is that I gave away my entire collection of displayed cased Italian aviation models to the maintenance chief of the apartment complex I live in Cameron Park, California on June 16, 2021 well as all my airbrushes, compressor, building tools et.al. items except for the folding table I'd built kits & photographed them on to a friend living in nearby Shingle Springs.

Before giving the collection away I'd photographed every model in it sitting open air on the display case bases or in front of an improvized back background photo booth. Many are large format so must resize them for posting on the forum either on this or a new discussion thread. Below is a General View of the collection that was in my apartment Living Room a few hours before it was given away on June 16, 2021, the floor rug & coffee table being replaced during 2022 as well:

Thank you all for having read my posts here on STORMO during my absence.

First, no one is happier to see you posting again than myself, I missed you! Glad your surgery went well and that you're feeling better and yes indeed, heart wrenching to know you gave away your models that you poured so much effort into, but I understand why. And what a great photo, every model lined up neatly, that's you to a tee :esmile:

Welcome back Brother!

There are several other photo views, including row-by-row detailed ones, will take sometime resizing them for posting. I also have digital videos, anyway Vince I can post them on STOMO somewhere?

Look at those beautiful seaplanes on the top shelf, your SM.95 and your incredible collection of Piaggios - what a haul those would have brought.

Sample Mixed Model Groups Photographed From Rear...

...Second from bottom right side of apartment living room 4-high shelve stack. Note the FIAT CR.42, G.50 & Macchi C.200 desert diorama collection complete with painted jerrycans & tarped ammo boxes, only diorama I'd completed, had planned to do others. Unfortunatey several photos of shelved collections came out fuzzy, poor lighting & "budget" SONY digital camera meant for photographing individual aircraft partially to blame along with my inexperience using the latter. There wasn't any way I could cut display case glare except photograph them in ambient light without having to use flash lighting:

Where The 2015-2020 "Italians" Were Built

Post by RetiredInKalifornia » Sun Oct 08, 2023 11:05 am

Second Calendar Year Of Building November 25, 2017

Image

This was standard workbench arragement whole time was model building then, everything including the equipment on counter above it & carpet underneath Gone With The Wind, still have the battery clock though. Air compressor was second of four had used, i.e. first one brought from where I'd lived with my late parents, other three piston & diaphragm types bought whilst living at the apartment. The last "pancake" one c. late 2019 & all of 2020 was best of all, should had bought similar model years earlier!

Piston compressors good as they were for maintaining consistant air pressure under varying barometric & humidity conditions tended to lock-up & loose seal pressure, diaphragm ones broke apart though were lighter, sad they weren't manufactured to allow diaphragm replacement, their tanks, regulators & crank rods held up well! All compressors I'd used were low-cost Chinese made that wore-out after so many compressions cycles, durable ones really hard to find anymore. Air compressors built for hobbiest work are expensive, not particularly durable either, oil-based paints I'd used required lots of pressure for spraying, ordinary general use ones worked just as well IMHO.
