The last time France hosted the European Cup they won it and they seem to have a good team this year, so they should be favorites.

On another note English fans or hooligans as they're often referred to these days are back hard at work:

Belgium is one of the favourites.
However, after that pathetic performance against Italy, I'm not so sure now.

Belgium is the most expensive team ever to hit the pitch, but at least they got a 3-0 decision against Ireland today. When Italy played Belgium it looked like old style Italian football, a masterful shut down of the opposing teams offense and clinical in the counter attack. If they play like that the rest of the tournament Italian fans will have allot to cheer about!

Congratulations to Portugal, Euro 2016 Champions! The Portuguese were due a tournament win for a long time.

Fabio Capello called it, he said Portugal, in his view, were favorites to win the Euro 2016 finals (France were a good match for Portugal), and I guess that's why he's considered a genius in the Footballing world.

However, if ever there was an underdeserving team to win a tournament, even as runner ups, you'd have to say this Portuguese team is it, just one win in 90 mins in the entire tournament. Unbelievable!

I think myself and the 200 million people watching the game, except for Capello, expected the French to win and win decisively. It looked to me that the French bought into the world's expectation that the French would win easily and all they needed to do was show up.

Without showing bias (yes I was cheering for Les Blues), I agree, Deschamps has some explaining to do. I don't think anyone was expecting the Portuguese to win, let alone win without Ronaldo. I thought the (incorrect) free kick in extra time given to the Portuguese started it all with the cross bar hit and Eder putting it in the back of the net shortly thereafter i.e., some bad officiating contributed to the loss too. Add to all that the French haven't lost to the Portuguese in 10 straight matches dating back to 1975 and playing at home, in Paris, who would have thought! Having said all that the Portuguese were due a tournament win, however way they got it.
