SM.79 machine gun mounts

High people a question please about the picture which came from a vintage SM.79 resin kit. On the areas that are marked seems to show rods that could be moved, was this a machine gun mount that could be moved from storage up to either side gun windows so only needing one machine gun?
Heres hoping someone will know

as you can see in this picture with the two waist guns there is no sign of the rods from the first picture

Sharp eye!
The early S.79s were set with a single Lewis gun banking on each side. The conical screw was to fix the MG at the desired side when firing. That system was used in Spanish Civil War and in early weeks of WW2, when it proved to be not suitable for a modern war. So, the single Lewis was replaced by two Breda SAFAT 7.7mm (.303cal) as in the picture you posted.
