Fiat Br-20 Cicogna 1/48 Special Hobby
Fiat Br-20 Cicogna 1/48 Special Hobby
Ciao!
Today I present another project concerning the 1/48 scale Fiat Br20 from the Special Hobby company.
For the construction of the kit I used the following documents:
Manuale di uso e manutenzione
Manuale Nomenclatore
as an aftermarket I will use the Eduard photo-engravings dedicated to this model ... the rest will be self-built.
It is not my recent work but it dates back to some time ago, but I wanted to share my experience with you in case someone was tempted to want to build it.
I immediately start by saying that this is not an easy kit .... indeed!
The most problematic part concerns the assembly and the connection of the tail terminal which does not adapt to the gluing seat , the engine bonnets which are not round but rather oval and the cockpit window which is wider than the fuselage on which it rests.
This is the assembly kit now out of production
and this is the reference profile
The choice of this profile is given above all for the presence of heraldry which, however, will be modified by adding a lightning bolt and a falling bomb
ok let's get started

Re: Fiat Br-20 Cicogna 1/48 Special Hobby
As usual, the first thing done was to thin the fuselages and then start working on the tubular structure and on the other internal components.
internal tanks
Structure
Then I dedicated myself to the radio operator's station
helping me with the drawings of the manuals (not easy to interpret) I created the position of the lower gunner
ammunition box
after the position of the ventral gunner I dedicated myself to the M9 dorsal turret
Here too the documentation came in handy .....
here the somewhat complex ammunition box
the components are only supported ...
the San Giorgio collimator
Well, that's all for today ..... see you soon a new substantial update
Ciao

Incredible work as always! An amazing amount of detail.
Re: Fiat Br-20 Cicogna 1/48 Special Hobby
Very good attention to details, serious research and good documentation. I did the Alpha flight a long time ago, and compare to the Special Hobby which I also did (SH did copy a lot on the Alpha Flight) was easier to do. Keep it up, baci and bravo.

Ciao!!
Thanks for the comments, always welcome!
Today I present another important step in the works.
With the help of the documentation I recreated the flaps and the inside of the trolley compartment as it is too bare from the box.
then I thinned the section of the wing interested in receiving the fixed part of the flaps which are quite complex to make
finally I rebuilt the internal area of the trolley compartment
ok for now it's all soon another update

I apologize for a very basic question - What cement do you use to hold together such delicate structures?
BTW, the work is amazing!

Re: Fiat Br-20 Cicogna 1/48 Special Hobby Update
Hi !
Thanks for the comments, I'm glad you like it!
Today some photos with a little color.
I don't think the color of the gas tanks is right but in the midst of all that gray I liked a splash of color
radio operator station
Back turret lifting structure
position of the pointer and gunner front turret
closing of the fuselage and joining to the wings. I also separated the moving surfaces to give some movement
preparation of the front position of the pointer and gunsmith
detail and modification of the front turret
unfortunately I have no photos of the engine being worked on, but the classic operations have been carried out: positioning of the wires for the candles, adding the rods etc.
with this photo I would like to highlight the fact that the fuselage section is too narrow to accommodate the glazed part. To solve the problem I had to open the side door and add a 'beam' with a toothpick and then glue the canopy in the correct position. From the opening I then proceeded to remove the piece of wood
Ok that's all for today!
I realize that maybe I publish too many photos and it can get boring .... I ask the administrator if I have to reduce the posts ... thanks

Looks like you are doing a great job. No not too many pictures . Keep up the great job.
Re: Fiat Br-20 Cicogna 1/48 Special Hobby
Paolo, there's no limit to the number of photos or the number of posts you can post. The more detail the better. Great job so far.

Hi everyone!
Thanks to the administrator for the quick and accurate response.
Today I present the finished kit but I have to make a clarification first: the livery is wrong!
It is not wrong in the colors but in the shape of the spots that were supposed to be shaded spots and I instead made them rounded.
By now it's too late to fix it .... I should bleach it and repaint it but now I absolutely don't want it .... maybe one day I will.
Maybe I have to find the right decals first....
Now the pictures
The colors used are:
Grigio azzurro chiaro: Gunze H332
Verde Mimetico 1: MRP 328
Marrone mimetico 2: Mig 0079
Giallo mimetico 3: MRP 323
here are the stains performed ...... wrong !!!!
apply the few decals
and these are the final photos taken in the light of day
ok that's all .... Ciao!
