Colour band on SM 79

Hi Guys.
Does anybody have any idea what colour the band over the fuselage could have been. What was the reason for it??
?? also to do with dingy release??

Nothing official for sure, could be SA applied markings with touch up over the top of the markings. Let us know if you find anything more on this photo.

IMHO was applied by the Commonwealth forces who'd captured it but as usual I could be dead wrong. Think the photo was taken to record the "Kewfrie" art. Note that the marking looks like a water base paint wash over the "fried egg" camouflage. Dunning records Aeronautica Macchi license built S.79s between 1937 and 1939 latter year when Macchi was painting early C.200s "fried egg" so I'd bet the airplane was Macchi built likely in 1939.
