- > Mainwing assembled for both models, i.e. Landing Gear Housings, Top Wing Halves, Ailerons, Engine Mounts, etc., putty filling & sanding necessary around Port Engine Mounts/Top Wing Halves.

- > Landing Gear Housings & Mainwing interior parts painted Testors Model Master (TMM) 1726 Light Sea Gray enamel approximating Regia Aeronautica Italia (RAI) Grigio Azzurro Chiaro per the Stormo RAI Color Guide approximate interior color for Savoia-Marchetti aircraft prior to assembly.

- > Fuselage Interiors including bulkheads & floors painted TMM 1726.

- > Seat cushions painted Testors 1185 Flat Rust enamel; Italian aircraft crew seat coloration remains a mystery, guidance requested.

- > Cockpit Control Wheels & Columns, Fuselage Halve & Bulkhead Instrument Panels painted various Testors Flat Black, White, Yellow, Aluminum, Steel et. al. enamel color formula & spot mixes, all were assembled together with kit-provided Cockpit Instrument Panel decals.

- > Italeri Kit No.1290 (2010) came with Radio Instruments decal, No.1225 (2003 - first release per scalemates.com) didn't, affixed it to one of the bulkheads.

- > Clear parts glued on Fuselage Halves; Radio Gunner Compartment Window Mounts with clear parts glued on halves, putty filling & forming was necessary around upper clear part edges.

- > Tail Landing Gear & Rudders, Beam Machine Gun Mount & Guns et. al. parts must be painted before assembling fuselages, will get to them next.

- > One model will be painted ala Profile Publications No.89 centerfold S.79-II "Electric Man" (failed doing so with the Airfix S.79 kit, last chance here), Sky Models 72003 & Tauro 72-513 decal set grafting work will be necessary.

- - > Humbrol 63 Matt Sand + 10% Testors 1169 Flat Yellow + 36% Testors 1168 Flat White enamel shading replicating Giallo Mimentico 3 base, Humbrol 102 Matt Army Green + 36% Flat White mix replicating Verde Mimentico 1 "wide" fishnet mottling per the Profile centerfold Rudder painting necessary before fuselages can be assembled.

- > Decision on paint rendering second model pending, will report on that later.

- > Photos below of build progress to date.

- > Rudders camouflage painted, Distintivo di Guerra crosses added next followed by Fuselage assembly.

- > Camouflage base paints are slow drying, Mainwings & Fuselage must be painted in stages.

- > Two-color top camouflage patterns require more source document referencing than usual particularly for the 193 Squadriglia Profile Publications centerfold-based model, bit of a challenge here!

Ciao Enrico

Thanks! Distintivo di Guerra rudder crosses painted on today, took some doing, guns base painted Testors 1168 Flat Steel + Black & White mix enamels, detail painting latter tomorrow, also base painted Engine Cowlings Testors 1169 Flat Yellow for the "green" 278 Squadriglia model, detail painting them later this week.

Spring stomach flus with associated migraines, sinuous stuffiness & fatigue been particularly nasty lately, modeling work continues nevertheless but with difficulty at times, will attempt assembling fuselage of one model tomorrow, if goes OK will do the second Tuesday.

- > Clear Cockpit Canopy part frames for both models masked & spray painted Mimentico base colors then allowed to dry - forgot to do this earlier!

- > Canopy parts then were glued on port fuselage halves; parts are keyed to fit in starboard fuselage halves ala the 1967-vintage Airfix S.79 model, must be done before gluing Fuselages Halves together.

- > Fuselage Interior Parts Assemblies, including Forward Machine Guns Beam Gun Mounts, Tail Landing Gear parts, will be glued-in tomorrow, spot painting afterwards if needed, Fuselage Halves then will be glued together - finally!

- > Alfa-Romeo 125 Engine parts for both models fully painted, propeller spinners base painted Testors Flat White enamel.

- > Fuselage Interior Parts Assemblies; Forward Machine Guns, Beam Gun Mounts, Tail Landing Gear parts (tires sprayed painted Poly Scale Dirt & Mud acrylics), retracted Dorsal Gun Shrouds (near forgot about them), for both models glued in place on port Fuselage Halves.

- > Underneath Fuselage Halves around Landing Gear Tail Wheel Wells painted Humbrol 140 Matt Gull Gray + 36% Testors Flat White shading replicating Grigio Mimentico, needed to do this before gluing Fuselage Halves together.

- > Fuselage Halves glued together in stages; Forward Machine Gun above Cockpit Canopy, Tail Landing Gear Wheel Mount on one model misaligned, took some doing getting them aligned right whilst glue was drying.

- > Fuselage Interior sections still accessible from undersides touched up with Testors Model Master 1726 Light Sea Gray.

- > Center sections of assembled Fuselages, top outer sections of assembled Mainwings will be painted base Mimentico colors tomorrow, set aside to dry for a day, painting Main Landing Gear Struts follows.

Only since November 2, 2015 could I devote all time on model building prior to that was tending to my late parents & their homestead; my hobby work barely fills the void of their absence. By 2021 should have built all Regia Aeronautica Italia (RAI) models afterwards a limited series of WWII Luftwaffe et. al. British & European air force air subjects, should keep me busy few more years. God has been kind to me insofar as having good eyes & hands given my age, the RAI subjects hopefully all built before "things happen", only ones do care about getting all built.
