Hi guys! I had the Vintage Models resin kit of the FIAT G.55S laying around, so I decided to build it for a Prototype Group Build at my local modeling club.

As you can see in this picture, there is a hole in the middle of the wings right where the radiator should be. The G.55S had to smaller radiators placed at each side of the gap, right where small holes are. In the Flying Machines Kit, which has two wings, one for normal G.55 and one for the Silurante, the gap for the radiator is covered by a panel. In the instructions of the Vintage kit this is not addressed and in the references I have it's not clear as to if a plug should be put in place.

I'm undecided on the paint scheme also, it could be verde oliva 2 with nocciola chiaro or grigio azzuro chiaro spots. I'm inclining towards the traditional verde oliva 2 with nocciola chiaro spots.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

Best regards.

Hi Jrlucero,

Thank you the photos emanuele, but that is the Sotoserie 0. The one I'm building is the G.55S Silurante, the one that was fit to carry a single torpedo.

Regards,

That is the FIAT G.55S. In that picture you can't really tell if the hole is plugged or not.

A bit late into the fray but here goes….

The G55S was a modified version of a standard G.55, so you will need to plug the gap where the radiator was originally placed. The machine guns in the fuselage were also removed to save weight but I'm not sure if you should plug those gaps. Don't forget to extend the tail wheel to make space for the under-slug torpedo.

For the camouflage I used overall Grigio Azzurro Chiaro with very fine wavy Verde Oliva Scuro lines. See my build of the Flying Machines kit in Stormo's gallery.
