Hi all,
Currently I'm working at a J 87R-2 of the Regia. It is an Arfix kit and Italian decals come with it. There are Italian national markings provided for the upper wings, but I noticed that most Picchiatelli don't have upperwing markings.

The one I'm building belonged to the 239 Sq. (winter 1940-1941).
Can anybody enlighten me on this matter?

Thanks,
Jan

I'm not aware of photos that show the top wing fasces on RA Ju.87s.

In "Ali Straniere in Italia 002 - Gli Stuka della Regia Aeronautica" there aren't images with the national markings for the upper wings.

Upperside fasci in Italian Stukas were very rare. The only one picture I know depicting them shows a 96 Gruppo aircraft at low level in the Balkans, late 1940. Source is: Borgiotti-Gori, 96 Gruppo Bombardamento a Tuffo, STEM Mucchi, 1978

By the way, below are the correct shapes for Italian Stukas wing fasci, two types, by Emiliani-Ghergo-Vigna, Regia Aeronautica - colori e insegne, Intergest, 1974

The German Balkenkreutzen were covered (usually with slightly oblique bands) by Italian green paint, perhaps similar to Verde Mimetico 2 (FS 34092) which appeared darker than faded RLM 70 & 71, as Italian Stukas were second-hands.

Ciao Stefano, i fasci alari sulle superfici superiori erano molto ma molto rari,
essi venivano applicati prevalentemente al di sotto, ed erano di diametro inferiore a quelli standard.
Enrico
