HELP HELP HELP !!!!!!S.M. 81 camouflage patterns requested!!

Post by CARLO » Sun Oct 12, 2008 2:39 pm

Hello everybody, I am desperately seeking colour profiles of the S.M. 81 Pipistrello, both concerning Spanish Civil War and Second World War. Another question : the pattern scheme as suggested by the Supermodel 1/72 kit shows an aircraft painted in light green (supposedly verde 53192) with large blotches of darker green (here this could be verde mimetico 3) : is this pattern realistic as far as S.M. 81 are concerned, especially as torpedo bomber ? Thanks a lot to anyone who might give me hints (especially profiles!!!!) Carlo

Take a look at this and see if it answers your question:

or

or for a good build article:

Hope this helps

The believe the Supermodel scheme originated from the old Profile booklet written by G. Apostolo. I'm not sure how accurate these profiles are since the reference is rather old now:

Thanks Vince and Shane, your advice is really helpful. Unlike many other planes there seems to be a rather poor source of visual information as far as the SM81 is concerned. Once again thanks a lot anyway.
