C200 Detail painting

Before I start a build I like to have all my ducks in a row as it were, so these are my usual type of questions. 1. Cockpit colour: green or grey (GAC), for green I have seen FS34272 or FS34558 quoted and have the Humbrol Starmer mixes for both. 2. Wheel wells would they be green or the underside co...

Both of those look great builds, I hope that mine will turn out as nice.

Re: 1/32 Pacific Coast Models Reggiane Re.2005 Sagittario

And it was finished at long last, well as done as it will ever be, being as the real thing was very new I just dulled it down a bit but had been building it that long that the exhaust stains and muddy boots area were left and it was hurried into the display cabinet. I am very pleased with the end re...

Re: 1/32 Pacific Coast Models Reggiane Re.2005 Sagittario

It was time for the satin finish, for this I use Xtracolor XDSS Semi-Gloss Satin Varnish, I like to hold the model while I airbrush it, so I very carefully hold one wing tip and airbrushed away, let that dry and next day airbrush the wing tip that I was holding.. However, after the first airbrushing...

Re: 1/32 Pacific Coast Models Reggiane Re.2005 Sagittario

More finishing touches and another mistake. This is the exhausts painted with Humbrol H113 Matt Rust, I let this dry and then rub them with pencil lead to give a nice metallic colour. https://imagizer.imageshack.com/img922/1511/V61ZXl.jpg I had test fitted the exhausts to the boxes that I had instal...

Re: 1/32 Pacific Coast Models Reggiane Re.2005 Sagittario

Carrying on, you may have noticed the nice addition to my modelling tools, my Christmas present building stand, it's great, why did I not get one years ago. Then I carried on with the rest of the decals, mostly stencils, this was not easy as the instruction were useless when it came to exactly where...

Re: 1/32 Pacific Coast Models Reggiane Re.2005 Sagittario

Some paint was pulled off as seen in the last photo, this was quickly touched up. I worked on the undercarriage and was not impressed with the poor and vague fit of the parts so it was time to drill some holes, make some wheel spindles, pins and make some positive attachment points. This is the resu...

And with the mask in position, note the arrows are there as a guide, the masks are handed, the axe heads point outwards and the thick ends point backwards. https://imagizer.imageshack.com/img922/7682/mRcDvM.jpg I put tape on the mask to hold it together when I remove the backing (transfer tape). htt...

Re: S.M.79 – II „Sparviero” 1:48 Trumpeter

Fascinating subject, one of the best WW2 torpedo aircraft, I do have one in the stash but have not built a 1/48 scale kit in years.
Will be interested to see how you get on.

Cheers

Re: 1/32 Pacific Coast Models Reggiane Re.2005 Sagittario

Andt at last the Re2005 has more paint on it, not one of the more usual sexy Italian schemes but plain green, well Verde Oliva Scuro 2. For this I used Xtracolor X109 – Marine Corps Green FS34052, which is a good match for Verde Oliva Scuro 2 according to the Stormo Colour Reference chart. I faded i...

Re: 1/32 Pacific Coast Models Reggiane Re.2005 Sagittario

Fuselage and tail masking in place, the tail cross came out at a scale 6mm wide, so out with the 6mm Tamiya tape. https://imagizer.imageshack.com/img924/8741/62tKpT.jpg https://imagizer.imageshack.com/img922/669/tp0dwj.jpg Then it was out with the airbrush and repainted the fuselage undersides with ...

Re: 1/32 Pacific Coast Models Reggiane Re.2005 Sagittario

I checked the fitting of the aerial mast, this required a bit of drill work on the fuselage. This resulted in a nice tight fit of the mast, I left the sprue stub on to allow for later work. https://imagizer.imageshack.com/img922/8726/ERF2Ro.jpg Then how to attach the wire, looking at photos of the r...

Re: 1/32 Pacific Coast Models Reggiane Re.2005 Sagittario

Back to the nearly forgotten bumps So, I very carefully put a spot of CA on the place where they were meant to be stuck this was marked on the nose by an engraved half circle. But to my dismay they were not lined up equally, a quick check on my references confirmed that they should line up the same....

Re: 1/32 Pacific Coast Models Reggiane Re.2005 Sagittario

The lower part of the engine bay needed a bit of sanding to get it level with the front of the wing, I'm not too worried about the rear as the Re 2005 has full width flaps so there is a join line there anyway. The cockpit floor and seat assembly fitted well with a few adjustments; however, it is onl...
