Re: Tamiya Paints Matches ?

Welcome to Stormo. I like Tamiya paints however their range of paints have always been limited. Verde Mimetico 1 - FS.34258 - no exact match - Stefano Lazzaro's VITO Charts suggest FS.34151 - Modelmaster Acryl Testors # TES4736 Giallo Mimetico 3 - FS.33434 - no exact match Grigio Mimetico - FS.34258...

Re: Macchi C.200 over Malta?

81-12 Three tone camo scheme. Note the yellow (under) wing-tips typical of the Russian front. This plane was transferred to 22o Gruppo and was then transferred along with the unit to Russia in 1942 so its unlikely the plane carried the yellow wing tips when 81a Sq. operated over Malta in early 1941....

Re: Macchi C.200 over Malta?

A very good suggestion from Vince, you can find Franco Lucchini in 48001 (now long out of print), try the usual ebay. Here's Jean's build of Lucchini's plane: https://www.stormomagazine.com/ModelArticles/MC200/JeanBarby/MC200_JB_2.html https://stormomagazine.com/BooksDecals/Stormo/aces_instructions_...

That looks like "Aces, Part I". Once again, thanks so much, Vince. I have projects lined up to last through the rest of this pandemic!
Yes Beggiato's C.205V Serie I (MM.9324) is in 48008. Lets see what more Stefano has to add.

Re: Macchi MC.205 over Malta

The plane you want is Beggiato's C.205V Serie I (MM.9324) that was based at Pantelleria, mostly in support of the Tunisian campaign at that point of the war. Flights of C.202s (e.g., Visconti 86-8 MM.7944) based at Pantelleria flew over Malta on reconnaissance and combat missions the previous year. ...

Re: Macchi C.200 over Malta?

There's the old Aeromaster decal sheet 48-154 that has two subjects that flew over Malta, see below. There's also the SkyModels 1/48 sheet 48-021 that have many different subjects and include planes that flew over Malta. You should be able to find both on ebay. https://www.stormomagazine.com/Forum/A...

Re: S.82 profile (E-bay find)

Hi Alex,
The illustration is likely based on photos of MM.60270 that carried the three tone color scheme (in the CMPR Color Guide A3A). Things to note are the tri-color flag and spinners and the plane was powered by three Alfa 128s.

Re: Fiat CR.42 over Malta

I'm not sure if there's a sheet with Botto's machine, I think you may have to get creative :) Note the white upper wing tips.

Here's the photo from the Squadron/Signal book, p. 33: 2020-10-28_111118.jpg I've also found these references in the 2 Osprey S.79 books: 24° Gruppo w/ S.79 attacking convoy Operation Harpoon – Torpedo-Bomber, p. 49 9°Gruppo, 4°Stormo Caccia, esp. Maggiore Ernesto Botto, CO of 9°Gruppo – Bomber, p....
