Re: Italeri SM79 fuselage

Sorry I missed this post, what scale are you referring to and for what kit? The 1/48 Trumpeter kit is pretty inaccurate. The Italeri 1/72 kits are accurate. Check builds in the Gallery for more info.

Re: Italeri Macchi C.205 Veltro

A common use for airbrushes is automotive custom artwork and I've seen automotive paint used in model work.

Re: Italeri Macchi C.205 Veltro

Great job Richard. The smoke rings are probably the hardest camo to do free-hand in all of modeling. Also experiment with different types of paints, as modelers we tend to think of what's in front of us (e.g., Testors, Tamiya (acrylics), Gunze, Humbrol (enamels) etc.), but these paints may not be th...

The guy who would likely have an answer to this question is Riccardo Trotta ("Rick" on this forum), email or pm me and I'll give you his contact info.

Re: Recently released book...Fascism's European Empire

Thanks for this post, I appreciate it (I do miss these kinds of discussions). And not just in Croatia, Italian soldiers stopped the deportation of Italian Jews destined for German concentration camps, often at gunpoint (i.e., Italian soldiers pointed their guns at German SS/Gestapo), and if that mad...

Re: Italeri Macchi C.205 Veltro

I think Mike no longer prints these decals because the printer he used (Alps) is no longer supported but I think he came closest to a good representation of the smoke rings - Mike is a great modeler btw. Mike dropped by many years ago with his final product (the model in his photos) and I was amazed...

Re: Proper colors for SM 74

Stefano is a surgeon, he's very busy and as you may recall many surgeries were deferred when Covid hit and just piled-up, it's incredible he finds time to help us - I could not have done Stormo Decals without him - his research (his feedback) is first rate. It could also be he doesn't know :) I thin...

Re: Proper colors for SM 74

Vince here are some black and white photos of I-URBE and I-ROMA. The colors for I-URBE can be seen in the Ala Littoria postcard, the last image in this post - the FS numbers I don't know, even white has different shades and various profiles depict these planes with Bianco Avorio 5 which was used on ...

Re: Italeri Macchi C.205 Veltro

Richard, if you aren't willing to spray the smoke rings onto your model then use Mike Grant's decals (he lives in town). He made his smoke ring decals (before Italeri) and I think he may still carry them. Mike's decals look really good when applied (you need to follow the instructions). The decals a...

Re: Me 109 G6 Erla canopy in service with the RSI

Hi Zeb, welcome to Stormo. There were two ANR groups that operated the Bf.109: 1o Gruppo and 2o Gruppo. 2o Gruppo began receiving its Bf.109s at the end of May 30, 1944 (10 new) and May 31, 1944 (8 new) + 8 more from JG 4, 53 and 77 at Cascina Vaga. 1o Gruppo did not become operational on the Bf.109...
