Re: Cant.Z. 1007 mimetica policiclica: 2 or 3 colors?

Very interesting photos. 1) In the first photo CANT Z.1007bis 190-3, the colors are the three tone C10A Serie Mimetica colors, not the Tavola X colors. You can clearly see Verde and Marrone mimetico, and the Giallo on these planes almost always appears closer to white in black and white photos while...

Re: Cant.Z. 1007 mimetica policiclica: 2 or 3 colors?

Most CANT Z.1007bis were completed before 1942, so the Serie Mimetica colors apply to those machines. About 100 Z.1007bis were completed in 1942, the Tavola X colors would apply to those planes, however only after existing paint stocks were exhausted and even then, were likely finished in the Contin...

Welcome to Stormo. 1) Gray in the banded schemes – Riccardo posted an original drawing from Fiat that showed the use of Gray in the banded scheme many years ago on Stormo, and later, discussed more thoroughly by Stefano in his Vito charts (see imgs 36-39): https://www.stormomagazine.com/RegiaAeronau...

Re: VIDEO: Fronte Aereo - In un campo con i piloti del ANR 2° Gruppo Caccia Italiano.

That's a good observation, the middle part of the fasci is indeed painted over, likely with RLM 74 which suggests the fasci undersurface, on this plane, was painted all white. As to why they painted the fasci background white when they stopped doing this in May 1944 G.55s (1a Sq three-tone splinter ...

VIDEO: Fronte Aereo - In un campo con i piloti del ANR 2° Gruppo Caccia Italiano.

Some may recognize the images in the following Luce film (unfortunately there's no sound) of ANR 2o Gruppo from Ferdinando D'Amico's book (now sadly passed away) "Camouflage and Markings of the Aeronautica Nazionale Repubblicana 1943-1945" - Ferdinando used frames from this film in his book. The ima...

Re: My Tangerine Dream

It looks amazing. The color matching is excellent. What did you use for Identification Yellow (actually orange) - Shade 48 - FS 33538 ? Also I sent you an update of the drawing (print) with a more accurate dorsal antennae housing + improvements in the drawing (check your email Nov 06, 2023). Many pe...

Re: SM.79 Sparviero bombing Gernika in april of 1937

Its a yellow base but if you intend to model such a scheme you could start with the a green base and apply a mask and then spray on thin shades of yellow. The problem with this approach is that its hard to paint over darker shades (green) and if you over do it you'll get paint running.

Re: SM.79 Sparviero bombing Gernika in april of 1937

If you're modeling the Guernica machine use Giallo Mimetico 3, Verde Mimetico 53192 and the undersides were likely left unpainted. Note the white wing tips, the white spinner and unpainted front prop blades and prop blade badge. There was a large white 'X' next to the wing tips painted on the top su...

Re: Fiat BR-20 box art 9-5

The rudder is from an Aeritalia machine and ground grew painted over the rest of the cross on the fin. If you look closely verde overlaps some of the white. I should also mention, if the Fiat G.50 MM is correct then the opposite is true i.e., the fin is from a CMASA machine.

Re: Fiat BR-20 box art 9-5

Here are some color photos of the C.200 (below). btw the patch on the G.50 leading edge fin is white (part of a painted over CMASA Savoy cross), and likely a CMASA built machine although its MM (? - not clearly visible but identified as MM.5947) says its an Aeritalia machine. In the photos below the...
