Caproni CA 331

Just saw Chris Busbridge's article on the LF kit:

http://modelingmadness.com/reviews/axis/ity/bus331.htm

Does anyone know of references or plans for this aircraft, especially the observation variant?

Thanks,

Camouflage and markings of the ANR 1943 - 1945 can be found in the US thru Amazon:

Any one know the function of the small upright object just in front of the radio mast on the G.55? I've seen it in plans and believe the CA kit provided such, but it seems absent from the SH offering. I'm guessing it may be a vent for the fuel tank.

I believe this is an aerodynamic counterbalance to the barrel. Certain turrets employed on Soviet aircraft, particularly the PE-2, seem to have devices similar in intent, though in form more a partially circular vane than the rod like device in question here. I assume all such devices were intended ...

Thanks to all for the excellent references!

Is there any reason the Mike Grant smoke ring decals would not be appropriate for modelling an MC 202 of 396 Sq as shown in these references?

In 1:48 scale, will the Mike Grant decal provide enough smoke rings for two aircraft or only one?

My, I am getting old. I didn't spot the transposition until your last post. Yes 396 is the unit I meant. I'll look forward to your scan.

Thanks again,

I'm not sure of anything here, but am relying on the unit identification provided by Skymodels, which in full is; MC 202 - 396^ Sq. - 154o Gr. - Rodi -estate 1943.

Thanks for the smoke ring and color confirmation.

MC 202 369 Sq

Skymodels 1:48 sheet for the MC 202 includes three aircraft from the 369 squadron, "Rodi -estate 1943". The instructions call for upper surfaces in a base of Nocciola Chiaro 4 with Verde Oliva Scuro 2 mottle and undersurfaces in Grigio Azzurro Chiaro 1. Can anyone comment on these suggested colors a...

CZ 1007 In Belgium

In 1965 I was 20 and living in Los Angeles, California. At a small neighborhood hobby shop I found HisAirDec 1:72 decals. If I recall correctly, the line included markings for a Finnish Bf 109. These were the first after market accessories for the hobby I was aware of. It seems ABT decals from Franc...

CZ 1007 in Belgium

Chris, Thanks for the comments. I measured the Supermodel cowlings and found them to be very close to 19 mm, ignoring the molded open cowl flaps. Just laying the SM fuselage up against Richard J Caruna's drawings in Scale Modeller International, volume 11 issue 3, with things aligned at the rudder p...

CZ 1007 In Belgium

I took a fresh look at the photos from Stefano this morning and realized the question I raised about the different shade of the aircraft's finish was due to a tarp in place on the upper fuselage.

CZ 1007 In Belgium

Rick and Stefano. Thank you both. Your information, combined with that I have now gleaned from articles and other posts on this site, have been most helpful. I have two more questions; 1- is anyone aware of a 1:72 decal for the Cant logo in blue as Stefano mentions? I have the Skymodels sheet which ...

CZ 1007 In Belgium

Could someone please comment on the scheme of these aircraft deployed against England? Any liklihood that the upper surface base color was a green rather than Giallo Mimetico 3? Also, I've read that the yellow theater mark (fuselage band) was likely a Luftwaffe temporary use yellow, not a chrome yel...
