Actually, I said 'soon-to-be-released' and that was true in November 2011... The kit has now been released and, unlike the original, pre-2002 issue (in two versions) that was resin, the current one is short-run plastic. In parallel with my recent post on this topic I also did a search on the web and...

I’d like to resurrect this topic as I've managed to find one copy of Barteletti's book in the States, and after reading the "Colouring" chapter, I'm left with more doubts than firm answers. First and foremost what’s the evidence the Italian aviation industry used zinc chromate primer during the conf...

I think it would be a good idea to get your hands on a copy of F. D'Amico's "Camouflage & Markings of the Aeronautica Nazionale Repubblicana 1943-45" since it explains the variations in camo and insignia used by I and II Gruppo Caccia ANR applied to Italian aircraft e.g., G.55, C.205V. Choose a Gru...

A 'What If'

I'm planning to buy the soon-to-be-released, R-S Models's 1/72 kit of the Reggiane Re-2006, and build it in the livery the prototype would have worn, had it been completed and flown. I'd like some opinions as to whether this would have been the regular Reggiane-scheme, or the Germans have mandated t...

Hi, and the Hungarians could not intervene in the said battle? They used Heja II, which was a derivative of Re 2000.. Excellent point!...I had not considered that... :o Were they still operational that late in the conflict? Btw Deployment (in august 1944) of a small batch of Re-2005 carries logisti...

A.k.a. aircraft recognition

Granted, it's happened to all the Belligerents (as well as kill overclaiming  ).
Only - again mho - in this, specific case the chances of it happening are so slim as to make it unlikely.

Mirek, Until I read En Escort Of P-38s I would have agreed with you, so far as the defense of Ploesti is concerned (I still agree with you, so far as the defense of Berlin is concerned :!: ) but the evidence seem to indicate the P-38 crews met some Re-2001 looking aircarft trying to shoot down a str...

Re.2005 Ploesti?

The following is a quotation from page 132 of An Escort Of P-38s, by John D.Mullins “Returning from a Ploesti Mission on August 10th [1944] the 94th [Squadron] came upon two Re. 2001s setting up for an attack on a straggler B-17 near Nis, Yugoslavia. The attackers broke off as the P-38s turned into ...

Thanks

Thanks Alvise,

Hope you're back in shape now

Your scan comes from ALI D'ITALIA # 16 - which I also have.
Unfortunately, it provides a sideview only, whereas I was looking for a planview.

Ciao. :D

Thanks Alvise,

Scale is not an issue: drawings can be easily scaled up or down

Looking forward to your findings.

Re-2005 MM495

Hi, My first post here :D I've got both the Pavla and Sword 1/72 scale kits of the Reggiane Re2005. I'm considering converting one of them into the MM495 with the original German engine and VDM prop. Ali d'Italia #16 provides a side view of the modified nose-section only... Can someone provide me wi...
