Re: Macchi M.C. 202 11-378

Richard, a couple of ways to do this: 1) Skymodels 48-015 has the decals you need for 11-378 together with generic MMs (27) in white, black and yellow. Its an older sheet but its still good. The profile in the instructions is 1-378 but the decals for 11-378 are there (48, 49). Everything you need is...

Re: FLIGHT PATRIA HEART - SECOND EDITION review

Let us know what you think about the book, I don't recognize the author's names. I read two of Marco Mattioli's books from Osprey, 53o Stormo and S.79 Torpedo bombers, both are excellent reads and contain history, tables, day to day operations, pilot accounts etc - very much history oriented with pr...

Re: FLIGHT PATRIA HEART - SECOND EDITION review

Both of us being academics, we tend to reference everything under the sun which serves as a reminder of how hard it is to contribute original ideas to the current body of knowledge on any given topic. I do hope that when I reference certain books people don't feel obligated to buy the reference, its...

Re: FLIGHT PATRIA HEART - SECOND EDITION review

We used Volume 2 for 48011 "Cuore, Patria, Volo, 2o Gruppo Caccia ANR 1943-1945, Storie Vissute di Piloti e Aerei", its pretty good. Some fine details in the book lined up with what we found for the G.55 (e.g., vert stabilizer of the G.55 prototype and all the different production tails - much more ...

Re: 1/32 ICM Fiat CR.42

I would do Bobba's machine. btw there are no drawings or other photos (that I'm aware of at this time) that show the vent apertures located at the front of the cowling. I have no idea what they were used for other than venting, perhaps too much air build-up in the cowl slowing down the machine?

Re: 1/32 ICM Fiat CR.42

Nice job so far. If you choose to do a BoB Fiat note that the cowling yellow was not Giallo Chromo but a color closer to yellow than orange, see Jean's Fiat:

Re: 1/32 ICM Fiat CR.42

In the photo of 6-75, the MM isn't that clear but it looks like 7063 which makes it a Serie IX machine that was ordered in 1941 and likely completed the same year. Foglio D'Ordini n. 8571 was issued 14.3.1938 and it said that the new top side schemes (the honeycomb/network schemes) were to use (exis...

Re: 1/32 ICM Fiat CR.42

From CMPR: 1) From 1923 to about 1936, most Italian fighters of the prewar period such as the Fiat CR.32 were finished in Alluminumo (G2 Camo Scheme, Table 4 - CMPR Color Guide) or silver dope (fabric covered aircraft). 2) For aircraft under surfaces, Grigio Mimetico FS 36231 was the standard unders...
