Below a two part video of the bombing of the Manama Refinery (Persian Gulf) in Bahrain by the Regia Aeronautica on 19-20 October, 1940. The raid was carried out by SM.82s striking the refineries at 2:20am on October 20 1940; then, the longest range bombing mission in history, covering approximately 4,200 km (2,610 mi) and lasting 15 hours, only surpassed later in the war by B-29s operating in the Pacific. The bombing damaged two refineries and forced the British to deploy resources in the area. Captions are provided in English.
