DB 601 for Re. 2001

Post by Plastimic » Mon Nov 29, 2021 12:04 pm

I hey Folks,

I am starting to plan out my Classic Airframes Re.2001 build. I have decided I want to show off the engine and a few other things. I went on scalemates to see what they had listed when I typed in DB 601 1/48. I realize Alfa Romeo made the engine and it was the RA1000. They have a RA1000 listed by Tauro Models. I went to Tauro's website and I feel I'll be scrolling for a while. Eduard had a nice looking DB 601 but it seems to be no longer carried. I feel either with going with engine&things from Canada or finding the Aires one. Was there any difference between a German DB 601 and the RA1000? Also I have the Squadron book as well as well as Sergio Govi's book on the 2001, which is quite good. The areas I want to show off and improve are the engine, landing gear, the radio and other internals. Govi,s book has an excellent cutaway diagram both side and top view. That will help me with placement. Are there any other books people could recommend?

Sincerely
Tim

Hey Folks,

So I went to Engine&Things and the have an Alfa Romeo AR 1000 RC-41-1 V12 for the Macchi 202. I read somewhere the 202 and 2001 had the same engine. If this is the case I'll support local and grab the Engine&Things AR 1000.

Sincerely
Tim

Probably getting hard to find these days, but the Bancarella Aeronautica books on the Reggianes are very good. "Ali d'Italia" monograph no. 3 is on the Re.2001, and "Ali e Colori" no. 6 covers camouflage and markings for all the wartime Reggiane fighters.

They may be getting rare already, but Gli Archivi Ritrovati recently published a SPECTACULAR book on the Re.2000 in their excellent "Blueprint File" series. A lot of details would be applicable to the Re.2001, including wings and landing gear of course.
