Bombs carried by Italian Stukas

Apologies if this is a dumb question, but did Italian Stukas use Italian bombs or German ones? Thanks!

Both.
As at an early stage Italian heavy bombs hadn't the belt to be horizontally loaded, Italians bought stocks of SD 50, 100, 250, 500 and even 1000 kgs German bombs, the first two for wing racks. Once the device was provided for Italian products, national bombs of 50 (wings) and 250 kgs (belly) were used. Italian 500 kgs, or heavier, bombs were never loaded as they were too long for Ju.87s.

Exactly! And it so happens to be a good question with a good response! When I was at the UofT TAing undergrads, I would make a point of mentioning to the undergrads that the only dumb question was the one they didn't ask. I believe this is what distnguishes those that get ahead and those that don't ie., asking and knowing.

Thanks for your help! I've got three Pichiatelli in the stash, and I found some 1:48 resin Italian bombs. I think they'll do nicely.

1:48 Italian bombs are produced by Belcher Bits of Canada.

Hello Francois,
the Belcher bits Bombs are really a good choice.
I have also bought them some months ago.
But you should know that the noses of all the bombs (100/250/500 kg) are a little bit too hemispherical, compared to historic photographs or the manual, which MauroG recently found on the Net:

For my bombs, I think, I will remanufacture the noses with self-turned metal parts... But grinding a bit will also be effective!

I will probably sand them to shape, and since I wanted to try resin casting for a while, this looks like a good starter project!
