Ali D'Italia
Ali D'Italia
What is the difference between Ali D'Italia volumes No.2 and No.22? they're both about MC.202. Is this the same thing, a re-edition or something?
Alid'Italia
First of all the first number is now long out of print. Considering the demand on such a "classic", Alid'Italia went to town with this new volume including some new pics and infos. If you are interested in the life of the "Folgore", then you know what to do! Cheers, jean;
ADI #22 has allot of extra photos that are not present in #2. I don't think its too hard to get two full/separate books from the two planes particularly the C.202. You know its odd how historians treat the Macchi fighters C.200, C.202 and C.205 as separate planes often referring to the low production figures of each plane; however the C.200/C.202/C.205 should be treated as single development of the original plane, with total production equaling about 2,500 aircraft. Still far below the Spit/Me.109 but more representative of the production effort and focus of the Italian aviation industry. For example you’ll often read that the CR.42 was produced in the largest numbers by the Italian aviation industry during WWII, suggesting that the Italians lagged behind in advances in monoplane design or just missed the boat on monoplanes. This is unfair and a distortion. When you take the total production figure of the Macchi fighters into account (ie., 2,500), I think this gives us a better picture of where the Italians were at.
