Help with Classic Airframes CR.42!!

Post by jrlucero » Fri Sep 26, 2008 12:23 am

Hello guys, I'm really having trouble with the Classic Airframes CR.42. I can't find a way to get the upper wing and the struts in postiion. Can someone please tell me step by step how to set the struts and wing in position. What glue do you use for this'

I've already painted the model and I'm very happy with the result but I¿m ruining it every time I try glue the top wing and struts.

Thanks in advance!

Whenever I build a Cr.42 kit (in any scale) I always, always glue ALL the struts to the upper wing first, even before painting, using liquid glue. I find this really helps with the most alignment issues. A few test fits with the rest of the airframe will be necessary of course. I then use super glue to fix the struts to the lower wing & fuselage, as liquid glue will attack any paint.

I assemble the inner and cabane struts before painting. The top wing is painted and assembled after the fuselage and lower wing/strut asembly is painted and complete. Pre-drill holes and use wire at the end of each strut to guide the assmebly of the struts. Its tedious, but works. Use Davide's artilce as a reference :

By using wire you can adjust the diahedral of the upper wing, also use CA and tape to glue the wings into position.

Thanks for all your help guys, I think what I need most here is patience. It's only my second biplane build and I'll try the things suggested.

Thanks a lot!
