Revell-USA 1/32 JU-88

Post by Joseph » Tue May 24, 2011 11:19 pm

Hello Squadron Comrades, hope all is well.

Looks like Revell-USA is going to come out with a 1/32 scale JU-88 which will be a lot cheaper than the Revell-Germany one. I'm thinking of investing in one so I can convert into a radial engine version. The 1/32 BMW engines "should" not be a problem to get (from a couple of FW-190 kits / yes, I'm looking for some to cannibalize if anybody has any they want to sacrifice-LOL). The problem of course will be finding the right cowlings for them.
By the way Vince & others who replied, Thanks for the info on the clear-coats.

Ciao Joseph

So they will probably re-issu the A1 and you need a A4 ! Sounds like more than two cowlings to replace! Good luck! Here is what I did with L'arsenal conversion set to have a A4.

Thank you very much for your appreciation Vincent, but alas I do not own this model anymore as I did built it in a display purpose for my good fellow Jacques Druel owner of L'Arsenal. He will probably bring it with him at scalemodel world in Tellford this year. Regards, Jean.

What a Great Job you did on the JU-88!
No doubt I will have a project in-store for me converting the future Revell-USA 1/32 JU-88 (unless of course there is an after market radial/cowling conversion / detail kit).
On another topic, I noticed in the Squadron Mail Order catalog that SMER has reissued / boxed (new box art) the Fiat G.55 and Macchi-200.

Ciao Joseph

AIMS produce BMW conversions for the Ju 88, I think there were slight variations, a G-1, with a Ju 188 F on it's way. Cowls http://www.aimsmodels.co.uk/html/1-32_24.html homepage http://www.aimsmodels.co.uk/html/1-32.html Ju 188 topic http://forum.largescaleplanes.com/index ... opic=33655 Mistel conversion http://forum.largescaleplanes.com/index ... ntry305985

I'd recommend contacting John about the requirements for your project, he really knows a thing or two about the Ju 88!
