Questions about C.202 MM7823 flown by Giulio Reiner

Post by jrlucero » Sun Jul 29, 2007 10:13 am

Hello guys, I'm working on a 1/48 Hasegawa Macchi C.202, I want to build it as Giulio Reiner's mount as depicted in Regia Aeronautica Caccia & Assalto Parte II by Paolo Waldis and Marino de Bortoli.

According to Ali D'Italia's C.202 volume, the serial numbre MM7823 corresponds to a Serie III built by Airmacchi between June 1941 and april 1942. The 7.7mm wing guns where installed on C.202s produced from May 1942 onwards. What where chances that this machine was retrofitted with the wing armament?

Apart from the horizontal stabilzers and the upper wing hatches, what other things should I consider to turn Hasegawa's kit into a C.202 Serie III ??
Just build it!

José Lucero

Working on:
1/35 Autoblnda AB.41
1/48 P-47D Brazilian Jambock Squadron Senta Pua!

Caramba José! Glad to read you! To answer your question, as we know from when those wings MG were installed we could say yes! But we also know that most of the time, they were removed to gain weight and also because the Italian pilots found them inadequate for dogfighting, so we could also say no! You may consider your built with the guns if you show the plane early in its carreer, without if at the end. Call it a compromise and have a happy life! Hasta la vista senor Lucero. Ciao e a presto, jean.

Thanks for your input Jean! I think I'll leave the wing guns on this one. I'm going to post some pics of the progress I made on the forum.
Just build it!
