I have not built a biplane kit in 25+ years. I have got to a critical part of assembly.

I have built the cockpit (splendid!) and closed up the fuselage halves and attached the lower wings. Primed the kit and fixed a few minor gaps with putty and super glue. Cleaned and finished all other parts and sub assemblies.

Now the hard part: Attaching the upper wing and the undercarriage.

I am embarrased to say I am unsure how to proceed: should I pre paint the interplane, cabine struts and undercarriage legs before I attach them to the wing and fuselage? or should I pre paint these, then paint the fuselage and wings then attach them?

I plan to build the pre-war version 1st Stormo, 1936 in natural and doped aluminium using Aclad II. Struts are black.

Any advice on how to attach the upper wing??

One critical thing to do is to check the dihedral of the upper wing before attaching it.

On the model I built, the upper wing had a distinct upward curve on each side, which is clearly wrong. I flattened it out, after dipping it in 'very hot' water, by placing it upside down on a flat surface. The central bullet fairing stopped it from being completely flattended, as it should still have a very slight dihedral.

Doing this will make it much easier to attach!

yep. did that already. My sample had excessive dihedral also.
