Hello all,
Firstly let me introduce myself. My name is Quang. I live in Oostende, Belgium.
Although my friends see me as an old-timer modelling-wise (I started building models in the early 1960s), It was only later on that I took an interest in the Regia Aeronautica aviation. So please forgive me if some of my questions appear rather naive to you all.
My current project is to build the Italeri Macchi C.200 Saetta in the following livery


At first sight, the new Italeri C.200 is a far better kit than their previous Folgore although much more complex.
For this reason, this will not be the usual step-by-step WIP but rather a photo log of each completed stage of the build although I’d be glad to answer any question which may arise.
I’ll try to keep this build nearly as ‘out-of-the-box’ as possible, without any external aftermarket help..















In the next episode, we’ll deal with the engine. Your questions anf info are utterly welcome.

THE ENGINE
The Fiat A.74 was the standard Italian radial engine and powered the majority of RA planes of the period: GR.32, G.50 et Macchi C.200.
The Italeri offering is a genuine gem, easy to assemble and complete with minute details. A caveat: make sure to study the instructions and follow them religiously if you don’t want to end up with an upsidedown motor like it happened to me TWICE. Each time I had to dismantle the parts, remove the paint and assemble them again!

Outstanding work! Its a shame this kind of detail gets buried inside a cowling.

COWLING
The complex 4-part cowling with its characteristic bumps fit effortlessly providing that one slavishly follows the instructions.






The front radiator is an exquisite casting detailed on both sides inside and out.

Lovely work, it certainly looks a fine kit, it sure beats the PCM kit that I recently built.
