1/48 Fiat G.50 Freccia, Flying Machines

Post by Lubos Pavel » Tue Apr 08, 2008 2:30 am

Here is my first 1/48 scale Italian plane the Flying Machines Fiat G.50 Freccia. It's almost done. I build this model almost straight from the box.
I hope you like it.

Have nice day from Czech Republic

Hello Lubus,
Very nice colour scheme!
Since most G50s were painted in the earlier 3 tone Camo, I am guessing that this plane was painted after 1942?
Vincent.

Hello Vincent, I've choosen this scheme from the instruction sheet of the kit. This is the machine MM.6385 of 151a Squadrilia, 20o Gruppo Autonomo. This machine was photographed by Allies at Derma in Libya in 1941.

Thx Vincent. I hope this isn't the last italian plane. I would like to buy Special Hobby G.55 and make it in experimental fragment camouflage. And than propably MC.202 with smoking rings. I like the italian camo. 8)

Thx Arditi1961. I used Gunze colour. Cause I didn't know anything about italian camoflage colour I ask my very good friend Mirek Riha who is one of the biggest expert of RA in The Czech Republic. He said me how to mixed them.

Grigio Azzuro Chiaro 1 H324 (or C324)
Nocciola Chiaro 4 H310 + H079 (rate 2,5-3:1)
Verde Oliva Scuro 2 C038 + C018 (rate 2:1)

I did how Mirek said and the result you can see on the photos above.

You have done a good paint job on that Fiat but..... you should have read the correction to the model as I did in my article here on Stormo. Just compare the picture of the real plane and the model . You will see that the engine cover sits too far back, shortening the length and hidding the louvres on the side. Otherwise it is a very nice approach, salute.

So now Lubos, what are you going to do with the weathering on this plane as the desert conditions were playing hard on the colors and on the metal! Any ideas? cheers, jean.

I will make wheathering with using oil colours and pigment both by MIG Production. I'am not decided yet but maybe I try some filter.
The result is uncertain.
