Re: MC 205
Hi Gregory, I used Alitaliane decals. Compare with Mike Grant`s these are dark and thicker...GAJouette wrote:Mirek,
Looks great so far .Are your smoke ring airbrushed or hand painted?

Smoke rings
Hello Mirek! and Dobry den!
I really think that those smoke rings have not the proper shape and color, and, as such do not pay justice to your nice Macchi. On my planes I always paint them for a more realistic look, I am not a decal fan. Best regards from France, jean.

Re: Smoke rings
Hi Jean I agree, but this is comparative experiment (Mike Grant decals vs Alitaline). Mikes decals are better (thinner ane better look) but Alitaline is stronger for using. I am not skilled for smoke-ring painting and using decals is good choice for me...D520 wrote:Hello Mirek! and Dobry den!

Out of all the smoke ringed Macchi's models I seen, those with the Mike Grants decals are perhaps the best interpretation. I found spraying these rings on anything smaller than 1/32 scale much too difficult, that's why I got both the 1/72 and 1/48 sheets!
Here's my attempt on the Craftworks C.205 kit, circa 2003.

Smoke rings or amibias
This is what you should be able to get with a decent airbrush (evolution in that case). Yes I know we are not all to be Monnet, but, give a try you 'll might end as Picasso.

In the spirit of smoke-ring-virility, I propose we have a Smoke-Ring Build-Off (or shot-out): first prize is a $40.00 Stormo Gift Certificate, second prize is a $25.00 Stormo Gift Certificate and third prize is a $10.00. I'll try to get other prizes thrown in, possibly a Classic Airframes kit. Simple Rules: smoke rings must be hand applied. Models must be recently constructed. If there's enough interest I'll launch a contest on another thread.
