WIP Octopus 1/72 IMAM Ro.44

Post by jrlucero » Mon Mar 23, 2009 5:36 pm

Hi guys! This is my first model of the year, I've not quite finished it yet. I need to apply decals, weathering, rigging and the floats at the end of the wings.

The kit builds up nicely with patience, good liquid plastic cement and sanding. Metalic paint is Alclad Aluminum after a MM Gloss Black primer. The red stripes on the top wing where painted first with a snow white base and then flag red was applied on top, both paints from Misterkit's excelent line.

Here are the pics:

Good work, Jose. I agree, it's a nice little kit, as is their Ro.43.

There is a 1/48 resin kit of this aircraft by Massimodel, but it's just too expensive at $139.95, which works out at £95!!

Excellent work! I have the 1/48 kit of Ro 43 but I have not yet decided to start because I think it is too engaging

Looking forward to seeing it finished!

Hello guys! I'm glad you liked my model.

Wow Gabriele! It's a real honor for me to share my work with people like you and many others here at Stormo that contribute greatly to our hobby, but specially in our area of iterest, italian aviation. Great link too, thanks for sharing!
What ship does it belong to?
Hello Vincent, this Ro.44 in from 161a Squadriglia Caccia Marittima, flown by Sergente Antonio Marinone in April 1940, so it was not a attached to any ship. Only Ro.43s where used on ships by the Regia Marina. There are some great prewar schemes that showed the name of the ship that carried the Ro.43 on the side of the fuselage, it would be great to do one like that next.

Thanks for your comments guys! It's my first since I got married and moved to my apartment. I'll keep you posted on the updates. The decals are in place and right now I'm rigging.

Jean, here's a pic of me and my bride, Rocio:
