Hi guys,

I finished painting up the interior of my Spanish SM.81, so before I close the fuselage, here are some more images.

Everything was first painted verde anticorrosione from a rattle can, then the various details brush painted, followed by a dark brown wash and drybrushing with the original colour.

:?: I would appreciate some help though with the exterior. I don't want to imitate Lucca Bossi's 21-43 (Lucca, tuo modello me piace moltissimo!!), so if anyone knows where to find some decent images of SM.8'1s with the Aviazione Legionaria? :?:

Many thanks/Grazie!!!

Tanti saluti dei Paesi Bassi

Peter

Hi, Peter,

There has been an interesting discussion on the matter in this forum, months ago. Take a look here: https://stormomagazine.com/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=331
I think there are in it some interesting suggestions for you.

Ciao
Stefano

Very nice work so far--whatever your final choice of scheme is, it should be a real nice piece.

Hello, Peter,

Absolutely immaculate interior, fairly puts mine to shame! Can't wait to see your finished model, if the outside is as good as the inside. This is a lovely old aeroplane which deserves some serious respect such as shown by your efforts. It is a much neglected modelling subject, goodness only knows why, as the colour schemes are colourful, varied and wonderful. I wish you luck in getting the three strut main undercarriage legs to fit, as I have always had to fiddle it to get a convincing result.

Regards,

Aeroal.

Update on SM.81 Aviazione Legionaria

Post by Peter I. » Mon Jul 27, 2009 12:49 pm

Hi guys,

Progress is a bit slow, but here's another update of my SM.81.

All panel lines have been rescribed including the missing ones to indicate the bomb bay.

The difference of the unaltered kit parts (lacking ribs) and the corrected parts is pretty obvious

The (drilled out) exhausts need a 3mm plug to fit the cowlings correctly:

Hope you like it.

Kind regards,

Peter
