Hello everyone,

I enclose a slideshow of photos of the IPMS UK Special Interest Group Italia display at Scale Modelworld 2009, Telford, U.K. The photographs were taken by my fellow IPMS Glasgow colleague, Stephen Prior. Unfortunately, the camera was not behaving terribly well at the time and I apologise for the less than perfect quality of the shots.

The two guilty looking characters in the photos are left, Aeroal and right, SIG Leader, and pseudo Italian Rugby prop forward, Jeremy Hall.

Regards,

Aeroal.

Easily the most Italian aircraft models I've ever seen at the Telford show... such a shame I did not go, as most of them look really good! I went last year and did not see anything like as many. One I can recall was an exquisite Warrior Models Breda Ba88 in the contest area.

IPMS UK SIG Italia

Post by Aeroal » Sat Nov 21, 2009 5:28 am

Vince,

Thanks for your kind comments. Special Interest Group 'Italia' is a section of IPMS UK modellers from all over Britain, Europe and even New Zealand with a love of Italian subjects, and cannot meet, except at Telford. Our only regular communication is a quarterly newsletter from the very capable hands of SIG Leader, Jeremy Hall. Scale Modelworld is our only chance to exhibit our year's work. As Chris Busbridge commented, this year has indeed been a bumper year for us in terms of finished models on the table, which is why I felt it was worth recording.

The British National Championships, 'Scale Modelworld', is unlike the American Nationals in that it is not nearly so competition orientated. Almost 50% of the exhibitors are member clubs, (chapters), and the remaining 50% are the Special Interest Groups, fully incorporated within the Society, which cover just about any particular subject you could think of, in great detail. The members of the SIGs generally have a great depth of knowledge in their particular specialisations.

Regards,

Aeroal.

Vince,

Thanks for your P.M. SIG Italia's next meeting will be November 2010, at Telford.

I should have credited the 'culprits' who built the models as being : Nic Aronica, Glenn Wilson, Francis Chapman, Luciano Satornetti, Hilton Jones, Brian Derbyshire, Alec Smith, Steve di Nucci, Andy Hoare, Jeremy Hall and Alan Simpson.

Regards,

Aeroal.

Fantastic pictures. I too went to Telford and would have loved to show some of my RA stuff at the table. Think it would have been fairly humbled by the talent on show. The Piaggio was the model that really caught me attention.
Great stuff,
