Thought this cartoon posted in today's Calgary Sun hit the mark accurately, as well as providing a good chuckle :)

Not Only That...

Post by RetiredInKalifornia » Sat Apr 18, 2020 10:55 pm

...But the World Trade Organization well as other U.N. bureaucracies ripping off Western nations for decades.

U.S. legislative moves to hold China accountable for COVID-19 never mind other pandemics originating there since 1949 unfortunately won't go anywhere so long as Nancy And The Democrats control the U.S. House Of Representatives, that won't be long given how disastrously tone deaf they - the Democrats - well as number of anti-Trump RINOs have been during the pandemic, bogus polling & "fake news" spewing from majority of world news media, FOX News at times as well included. It did no damn good for her - Nancy - to flaunt the $25,000 commercial-grade freezer chocked full of exotic ice cream in her palatial San Francisco mansion to us "little people", Marie Antoinette was a piker compared to her, least she'd advised us to eat cake :problem:

There is palpable anger here in California having been cooped up for weeks because of COVID-19, Newsom did a good job cooperating with Trump but the guy wants to give away taxpayer money to "relieve" illegals, Trump so far has refused to give them anything though some states are backdooring it to them, California included.

Easiest thing Trump could do to punish the Chinese Communists is indefinitely imposing tariffs on their imported goods, forcing them to forgive U.S. debt in token reparation to the trillions they'd cost us well as 180-plus other countries is another possibility.

There's an old French political saying, you deserve the government you get. Its inscrutable to me as economies tank that a government would give tax payer money to illegals, it's quiet unbelievable - I just hope we never get to that point here in Canada. Gavin Newsom waited till he was in the clear and didn't need Trump's help any longer before declaring this. Liberals like to say illegals pay taxes, but what they're referring to is Sales Tax, like when you purchase alcohol or cigarettes or fuel. Illegal immigrants do not pay Income Tax which make up 92% of federal revenue. At some point Conservatives need to call out these people for what they are, unpatriotic and disloyal and they also need to take back control of education.

Civil unrest has broken out in the US. Americans are not only smart and stay informed but they take action. China has to be made to pay but this will require an organized response from every country affected. Even some African countries are now calling for reparations - there is no place on this globe that has not been badly affected by the Wuhan virus. The US also needs to pull out from the WTO or have China removed. China is a malign state. It kind of seems silly now that the West thought they could do "good business" with a Communist state. The West did not trade with the USSR for fear the USSR would grow to where China is today, but in their "soft bigotry" the West never imagined China to be a threat, in fact they bought the line that China was not an expansionist state - how wrong they were.

Nixon famously went to China 48 years ago not so much as to trade with them but to counter Soviet influence, something JFK could had done in 1964 if he'd not been assassinated, LBJ couldn't ala not appearing to be soft on Communism. Globalist George Herbert Walker Bush amongst many Swamp Critters made it possible for China to become an economic power, COVID-19 most painfully demonstrates absolute necessity for USA, Canada, Mexico, everybody else outside China to make their own medical stuff never mind everything else. Retribution towards the Chinese Communists, not the Chinese people, is long overdue, COVID-19 is the last straw, keep the tariffs up indefinitely for starters, negotiate debt forgiveness next.

I think another part of the equation is to teach people to properly pay for something. In today's culture it’s normal to "score a free lunch." This needs to change. People should be prepared to pay the fair market value (not higher, not lower) for something they wish to own. Having something produced elsewhere at artificially lower prices, such as in China (because of currency manipulation and/or child/slave labor) undermines the health of a real (Western) economy. What we have in the West is an unhealthy, distorted view of Capitalism.
