Hello, I'm building a Fiat CR 42 flown by Capitano Aldo Li Greci CO from Trapani-Milo in June, 1940 during Malta campaign. I'm using an Italeri kit of the Fiat, which comes with bombs. First, I'm uncertain if these fighters were equipped with bombs for attacks on Malta, or if they were primarily tasked with defending the bombers. If they carried bombs, what color should the bombs be painted?

Bombs equipped the AS variant used later-on in the war. Try using the Search feature in the forum and search on "bombs". Here's a link to discussion on general bomb colors:
