I think it could be interesting to highlight that the previous german insigna probably had been removed using thinners and not overpainting; I tried to reproduce the effect of thinners visible in the photocolor

The undersides are more visible than anywhere else where you applied this technique. You must be very brave to dash thinner on a paint job like that :)
