Hi all,
this is my first posting in this forum, surely not the last.
I am about to decide how to paint my S.74 in 1/200. The few photos in the internet give no clue as to whether the background colour is rather a (darker)VM or (lighter)GM. The same photo of 604-8 can be interpreted one way or other. Somehow I tend to prefer yellow/brown blotches over green, but...well... A lighter overall look with GM as background would be more logical in Africa, right?
Thanks for any comments

Welcome to Stormo.
Stefano Lazzaro:
SIAI document dated Feb 1940 states that paints were those of Arson SISI: Verde 53192, Marrone 53193 and Giallo 53194 (GM 3). Base GM3.
Here's Richard's build as a guide:

The dense mottling on 604-8 creates a darker appearance.
Hope this helps.

Thanks, good to know about the existence of such a document. Will try to imitate Richard's excellent work.
