MC 205 spinner
MC 205 spinner
Recently I bought Italeri's 1/72nd Veltro. The main problem is the spinner. As you can see the spinner is depicted white with a black spiral. I have also seen models of this aircraft with spinners painted all white and others painted black with one third white. Which option is correct? I haven't found a single photo of that plane.

Hi, in book about camos ANR 1943-1945 (by Ferdinando D Amico and Gabriele Valetini) are photos many variants of spinner. Black spiral on white background (plane 7-1) spinner with one third white and rest in grey (3-3 - paolino IV) , all grey spinners. These planes are in "german camo" - RLM colors. Planes in original camo (VOS2 "rings" on NC4 background) had spiner with black spiral on white and back-part in main camo.

I have 3 photo of Mc 205 23-1 M.M. 92302 but spinner is not visible, one photo is without white tail-band. Background of underwing fasces is probably GAC1 (original color)

I built this aircraft a long time ago by using the ID vacuform kit- what a pos. However, I truly believe that this aircraft had a spinner that was 1/3 white and 2/3 in the camoflage of the remainder of the fuselage. If you look closely at the pictures posted above, theere is no wqy that the remainder of the spinner is black from the color tones.

Yes, but is this 23-1 on the photo? What were your references for that conclusion?
I found a link to a model gallery.

I don't have a specific priture of the spinner on this aircraft, but in a book about the ANR by Caruana, there is a stetement in the camoflage section about the Mc-205 spinners. It said that that spinner had the spiral removed when the new 74/75/76 scheme began to be used. In light of several pictures of Mc-205's in this scheme with the 1/4 white section, I went with this approach. There is a photo of this particular aircraft in this book also-but fromthe side andyou can't see the spinner well at all.
