I realizes that the Archer had a brief combat career and was not flown in any significant numbers, but was flown with some success by 22° Gruppo pilots, including Maggiore Minguzzi, Capitano La Ferla, Tenente Giulio Torresi and Sergente Donati. Is there any info on markings and codes for any of their planes [or others] who flew combat missions with the Re 2005? Thanks.

The Italian sources in current books about the 2005 namely Ali D'Italia and Avriloibri state there were numerous encounters and claims in 1943. Although many years ago I conversed with Ferdinando D'Amico via email and he mentioned the only verifiable claim was a Spitfire shot down in the Invasion of Sicily/Calabria.

When Vince Biondi was in town he made a point that if we applied the same standards that D'Amico did to British claims they would lose most of their aces. Italian researchers tend to be more strict with how they interpret a claim. Ferdinando was arguably the best researcher in the field, although his book on ANR camo schemes could have used a second print to clean up some areas, it won't be replaced anytime soon, not in English anyway.

You are probably right. That is why Italian Aces don't have the kill number like other nations.

So the Re 2005 attributed to Torresi is "362-2" MM092345 according to Hakan's website on WWII biplane aces, http://surfcity.kund.dalnet.se/italy_torresi.htm, but I have seen references to a "362-2" with a different and later serial number, "092351". So what notable pilot could I reasonably depict that might be close to fact. Or maybe it is impossible. Thanks.
