Hello,
I seek details of the P-38 Lightning reconnaissance two seater aircraft that were used by the IAF post WW2.
I have seen photos of some that have an "Observer position in the nose of the aircraft which was covered by a "rounded" viewing dome.
Any info of their use and or photos would be most welcome.
Many thanks,
Alex

Marco Mattioli wrote a book on this subject published by Aviolibri. Unfortunately I don't have a copy.

Hi Marco,
Thanks for your reply. Yes I had that book, but it never gave any great details of the two seater aircraft or any close ups (as I recall) of the Observers canopy which was forward of the Pilots position. From memory I believe these canopies were the same as those used on some kind of IAF trainer aircraft.
