Hello All!
Saw this nice color drawing of this high wing 4 engine bomber and it is so neat looking. Was it ever built or flown?
Thanks

Was the Caproni C.204 ever built?
Re: Was the Caproni C.204 ever built?
The Caproni Ca.204 was entered into the 1938 BGR (Bombardamento a Grande Raggio/Long Range Bomber) design competition and although it came second neither the CANT Z.1014 or the Caproni Ca.204 were built. The Piaggio P.108 (entered in the design competition as the P.112 and came third) was eventually ordered into series production because it was already under construction at the time of the competition as a private venture, the lengthy development time needed for the new bombers, the unstable international situation as well as the P.108 promising to be ready for series production at least two years ahead of the other designs. From this the Stato Maggiore (Air Staff) ordered two batches of the Piaggio P.108, 12 aircraft total for the BGR group.
The BGR specifications came about because of the pre-war rearmament scheme (Plan R) which was intended to provide the RA with 3,000 modern front-line aircraft by 1940. Plan R called for a single BGR group (two squadrons) to be ready by early 1941.

The four-engine Fiat G.30 was also an interesting design and the P.108 adopted a similar nose to the Z.1014. B.17B license production was also considered.
