VIDEO: Italy's Sleeper Submachine Gun: The Beretta M38A

SLIGHTLY OFF-TOPIC
Chatting with Bodek offline on our shared interest in small arms I thought I'd post this video of the Beretta M38A submachine gun.

Here’s a “Slightly Off-Topic” video review of the Berretta M38A by Ian McCollum at Forgotten Weapons. The M38A was the first mass-produced variant of this gun and is considered by many as the best submachine gun of WWII, used in large numbers not just by the Italian armed forces but also the Fallschirmjäger. In this video, note how the gun-sight remains on target, even on full auto – it’s a remarkable weapon. Ian covers the disassembly and breakdown of this weapon in a separate video.

Ian McCollum has written books and articles for Popular Mechanics on the topic of firearms and is located in the US. If you like Ian’s content don’t forget to like and subscribe to his YouTube channel, it’s a good one and worth checking out.

Note: although the tangent sight could be set out to 500m, the gun was used effectively as a rifle (carbine) as far as 300 yds in semi-auto, which was quiet remarkable for a SMG.
