Reggiane Re.2002 Ariete

Post by davenport49 » Wed Dec 23, 2020 8:46 am

This is a 1/48th Reggiane Re.2002 Ariete (“Ram”) by Italeri (No. 2670). I added a resin cockpit from Vector (VDS48-085), resin wheel wells, landing gear and covers by Vector (VDS48-084), and resin fuselage spine by Quickboost (QB 48 321). The model is finished with Model Master enamels and represents Regia Aeronautica. 239Ma. Squadrigilia, 102º Gruppo Reggio Emilia, Italy, February 1943.

Looking pretty good. But you've put the main wheels on wrong way around. They should be on the outboard side of the legs.

...Curtiss P-36 & P-40 had same landing gear folding arrangement, P-36 first flying 4 years before the Reggiane 2000, Roberto Longhi no doubt influenced by the retraction design. FIAT G.50 & Macchi C.202 inwards-down gear action seemingly better suited for rough field operations, Fw 190 & Hawker Hurricane well as Soviet fighters included, Bf 109s & Spits narrow outwards-down suffering from undercarrage failures 109's especially as landing weight increased with heavier engines & equipment.

dogsbody:

Thanks for the catch! Not sure how I messed that up. Now the challenge: Can I go back and fix it?

And thanks for the link; I wasn't familiar with this.

Ok, let's try this again!. :biggrin:
My thanks to dogsbody for pointing out my mistake. Fortunately, because I was using the Vector wheelwell set, the fix was fairly "easy".

Thanks, Chris;

I figured out the mistake I made in uploading my pictures, so next time I'll do better. I've started painting a Fiat CR.42.

Great job !

You would have thought Italeri would have done a better job on an Italian aircraft
From National Pride ? Let alone future sales "... :wave:
