S82 & S81

Post by James A Pratt III » Thu Apr 10, 2008 3:46 pm

I am going to be buying the new 1/72 S82 kit that has just come out and am thinking of painting it in the Dark Green over light grey 1942 scheme mentioned in the Ali D'italia book on the plane. Is this okay?

I also have recently aquired the supermodel S81 1/72 scale kit and am thinking of making it into a transport aircraft of the 1941-43 period. Could someone give me some info as to how these aircraft would have been painted and marked for the RA?

The model in ADI of the SM.82 145o Gruppo 1942 is painted Verde Oliva Scuro over Grigio Azzuro Chiaro. This is ok since Tavola X was introduced in late in 1941.

The Supermodel S.81 is a great kit. In general, transport aircraft were finished in VOS + GAC after the introduction of the Tavola X (1941-1943).

If you don't have it already Sky Model's decal set 72019 "Italian Bombers" has markings for the SM.82 in VOS + GAC.
